Saturday was a triumphant night for Deiveson Figueiredo, but something was definitely missing.
The Brazilian star’s first UFC flyweight title defense couldn’t have gone better. In his first pay-per-view headliner, Figueiredo needed less than two minutes to secure a fight-ending guillotine choke against challenger Alex Perez. Normally a fast finish in a high-profile bout like that would result in a $ 50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for the victor, but Figueiredo was passed over in favor of Joaquin Buckley and Antonina Shevchenko.
However, it appears that UFC President Dana White has done right by his flyweight champion. In an Instagram story posted by Figueiredo’s manager, Wallid Ismail, White is shown handing Figueiredo a bag of cash during a meeting with him and Ismail, and admitting that he made a mistake not giving Figueiredo a bonus initially.
A clip of the encounter was re-uploaded to Twitter and can be viewed below:

“I f*cked up,” White says in the video. “I made a mistake.”
Figueiredo is one of the most potent finishers at 125 pounds, and he’s no stranger to bonuses, having earned a “Performance of the Night” for his championship-winning finish of Joseph Benavidez in July and a Fight of the Night for his three-round battle with Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 240.
“Deus Da Guerra” is already set for his next title fight as he makes the quickest turnaround ever by a UFC champion when he meets Brandon Moreno at UFC 256 on Dec. 12, just 21 days after his win over Perez.
