UFC Fight Night from Mexico City on Sept. 21 has a main event as Yair Rodriguez returns to his home country to face heavy-handed slugger Jeremy Stephens in a five round showdown in the featherweight division.

The UFC announced the main event along with the rest of the main card during the UFC 240 broadcast on Saturday night.

Rodriguez will return to action after pulling off one of the most thrilling knockouts of 2018 when he put “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung away with a stunning upwards elbow strike that stopped the fight with just one second remaining in the fifth and final round.

Now Rodriguez will look to build on that victory when he faces another top 10 ranked featherweight in September.

Stephens will attempt to play spoiler traveling to Mexico City to meet Rodriguez while attempting to bounce back from two straight losses in his most recent appearances inside the Octagon. Stephens lost a heartbreaking fight to former champion Jose Aldo in a back and forth war and then fell by decision to highly touted featherweight contender Zabit Magomedsharipov in his last outing.

Also announced for the card, former strawweight champion Carla Esparza will face off with Alexa Grasso. Esparza has gone 3-2 over her past five fights including a decision victory over Vima Jandiroba in her last fight while Grasso is coming off a strong showing with a win over former title contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz in June.

Here are the rest of the fights confirmed for the UFC Fight Night card from Mexico City. The bout order is still to be determined.
