Entering UFC Fort Lauderdale on Saturday night, the welterweight fight between Alex Oliveira and Mike Perry stood out as a clear frontrunner for a possible Fight of the Night bonus. When the two 170-pound fighters finally locked horns inside the Octagon, they certainly didn’t disappoint.
With Oliveira throwing everything he had into his strikes early, including a flurry of looping kicks and spinning back elbows, it seemed Perry was in for short night. But after weathering the storm, Perry battled back with a barrage of hellacious slams and strikes en route to earning the bloody decision and his first Fight of the Night bonus.
For Oliveira, this marked his second such bonus.
Also earning a bonus, was Jim Miller and Glover Teixeira who left the arena $ 50,000 richer for their submission wins over Jason Gonzalez and Ion Cutelaba, respectively. For Miller, who holds the record for most wins and submissions in UFC lightweight history, this marked his 10th post-fight bonus. Teixeira, on the other hand, earns his sixth post-fight bonus.
