Dubbed “Blackbird” by the brand, the SLS AMG “Gullwing” coupe is the only one of its kind to feature matte black paint with red accents. The car was a drawcard to the motor show in 2010 and has been advertised on Drive.com.au by Sydney’s Ferrari dealership. Staff at the dealership said the car remained popular with the public and one customer had put a deposit down. Advertisement “That car has attracted so much attention,” a salesman said. “It’s unbelievable.” It is listed with only 4863 kilometres on the odometer, an average of less than 50 kilometres a week since arriving in Australia. Mercedes-Benz said the car cost “well north of half a million dollars” in 2010, making it a bargain of sorts today at 9990. Mercedes-Benz issued a statement when the car went on display saying it was “the only SLS AMG in the world to be painted in designo magno Night Black . . . sure to be an instant collector’s item.” The Blackbird’s paint finish was said to have cost 000 and the car has a special plaque to commemorate its role at the show.
