1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica

2.8 million euros ($3.5 million USD) is a lot of money. You can buy two Bugatti Veyrons, two Aston Martin One-77s and – well, you get the idea. However, if you’re a collector than you won’t feel bad cashing out $3.5 million for a 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica. The model brought in the highest price ever paid for a Ferrari Superamerica in Monaco over the weekend at RM’s Sporting Classics auction.

What’s so special about this car? It is one of only a handful of “short-wheelbase” 400 cabriolets ever built with a 95-inch wheelbase.

The car was originally purchased in Arizona in 1962 and the first owner immediately took it to the Bonneville Speed Trials where the V12 helped it hit a top speed of 145 mph.
